Electric Guitars is a band founded by Danish guitarists Soren Andersen and Mika Vandborg. They released their first self-titled album in 2014. The second album “String Fever” was released through Target Records on 26th February and is described as “a guitar-oriented rock album”. I was familiar with Soren Andersen as a guitarist, producer and engineer who worked regularly with Mike Tramp (as well as Glenn Hughes, D-A-D and others), so I was keen to check out the album.

Andersen and Vandborg are joined in Electric Guitars by Peter Kjøbsted on bass and Morten Hellborn on drums. The album was recorded live in the studio in an attempt to recreate the feel of a live performance, with the vocals being recorded later.

I played “Running Out of Time” on the Friday NI Rocks Show at the start of January. My favourite tracks would be the title track “String Fever”, “Let It Rock”, “She Wants My Guitar” (featuring Danish singer Ida Corr) and “The Thinner The Eyebrow The Crazier The Woman”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
