Quite often my album recommendations relate to releases from bands whose members are around my age, or at minimum who have been releasing albums for ten years or so! To discover a band who’s first release was within this decade is therefore always very reassuring. In this case the band in question is Worry Blast from Switzerland and the album I’m recommending is “Hit The Gas” which was released via Mighty Music / Target on 22nd January.

To be honest I know very little about Worry Blast – the press release doesn’t tell me much about who they are and there isn’t a section on their website to provide any clarity. What I do know is that the band is fronted by Mat Petrucci on vocals and rhythm guitar, with Allan Claret on lead guitar, Dann Collaud on bass and Lucas Collaud on drums. I also know, judging by the photos, that they’re all fairly young!

Worry Blast released a debut EP called “We Ain’t Gonna Stop” in 2012, followed by the album “Break Out From Hell” in 2013 – both of which appear to have been self-released. Their second album features 10 tracks of 80’s inspired rock ‘n’ roll and a guest appearance from Alice Cooper guitarist Tommy Henriksen.

I played the opening track “Raised by Rock ‘n’ Roll” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 22nd January. Other favourites would be “Hit The Gas”, “Hold On”, “At Draggers Drawn” and “Family Business”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
