Anders Bo Jespersen is a Danish guitarist who has worked as a session player for many years. On 8th January 2016 he releases his first solo album entitled “Bucket  List” via Mighty Music / Target. There are 10 tracks on the album including 3 instrumentals and a number of different guest vocalists. All of the instruments are played by Anders Bo, better known as ABO. The tracks vary from melodic rock / pop to hard rock and it’s the latter that impressed me most. The opening track “Go Down” which features Rebecca Lou on vocals is included on the Friday NI Rocks Show broadcast on 25th December.

There are several guest vocalists on the album and all co-wrote the tracks that they provide vocals on. Rebecca Lou is the lead vocalist for the band Stella Blackrose (which Anders Bo was a member of) and sings on three of the tracks on “Bucket List”. Guitarist and producer Soren Anderson who has worked with Mike Tramp extensively and toured with Glen Hughes and others contributes to the track “Shadow”. Anderson is a member of the band Electric Guitars who release an album through Mighty Music / Target in February. The other vocalists are Jenny Sjowal, Danish pop/rock singer Celina Ree and Thomas Carlsen from the band Karma Cowboys.

In addition to “Go Down”, my favourite tracks on the album would be “Shadow”, “Promise” (featuring Jenny Sjowal) and “Back To Me” (featuring Thomas Carlsen). The three instrumental tracks are “Stage Right”, “Cars & Guitars” and “Picks & Cows”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
