I’m a bit late posting this recommendation as the album was actually released on 17th September, but better late than never! “Voodoo Town” is the new album from local rockers Falon. Bass player Ben was good enough to send us a CD a few weeks ago and I played the track “Girls on Fire” on the Friday NI Rocks Show recently. I’ve been listening to the album on my iPod quite a bit over the last few days and it reminded me that I should post something to say how good it is!

Falon are based in Londonderry / Derry and the current line-up has been together since 2003 with Ben Byrne on bass, Kevin McAllister on guitar, Paddy Fleming on drums and Stevo McAllister on vocals.

There are 8 tracks on the album. As well as “Girls on Fire”, my favourites would be “On With The Show”, “Cold Day in Hell”, “Crimson Sky” and “Lady Love”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
