My recent album recommendations have included releases labelled as melodic rock, prog rock, symphonic rock and “classic” rock. According to the press release, this latest recommendation takes us into alternative rock, although I’ve also seen the band labelled as hard rock! As I’ve said before, if I like something I don’t really care what label is applied to it. Those latest recommendations have covered bands from the UK, Sweden (mainly), Argentina, the USA and Australia. This one brings me back to Sweden and a band called Haunted by Destiny who released an album entitled “Aria For An Angel” through the Doolittle Group on 20th September. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already.

Haunted By Destiny formed in Sweden in 2012 and “Aria For An Angel” is their first full length album. Four of the twelve tracks on the album appeared on the earlier EP “Aria”. The band have released videos for “Turning Pages” and “Healthy Girl” which is one of those tracks that appeared on the EP.

Haunted by Destiny are fronted by Evelina Eliasson on vocals, with Christian Gardefuhr on drums, Johan Soderhielmhas and Simon Weston on guitars and Marcus K Johansson on bass.

My favourite tracks on the album would be “Healthy Girl”, “Turning Pages”, “For You”, “Gravity”, “Follow” and “Stand My Ground”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
