“Rolling In Town” is the second album to be released by Argentinian band 42 Decibel; following on from their debut “Hard Rock ‘n’ Roll” in 2013. Tracks from the latter had been featured on the NI Rocks Shows on Rock Radio NI on a number of occasions, so I knew to expect something good when we received notification from Steamhammer / SPV that they’d be releasing a second album on 18th September. There is an undeniable Bon Scott era AC/DC vibe to the 42 Decibel sound; and that is certainly alright with me.

A quote from the band’s press release pretty much tells you what to expect from “Rolling In Town” – “Our music doesn’t attempt to raise any particularly complex issues, it’s based pure and simple on a conscious vintage aesthetic, a traditional sound and the essence of classic rock and blues”.

Favourite tracks from the 10 on the album would include the lead single “Midnight Teaser (Evil Woman)” plus “Can’t Keep Control”, “Short Fused”, “Burning Down The Road” and “Eye of the Hawk”.

There has been a change in bass player since the debut album with the line-up now being Junior Figueroa on vocals and guitar, Nicko Cambiasso on drums, Billy Bob riley on rhythm and slide guitar and Matt Fraga on bass. The band wrote the tracks and recorded and produced the album themselves; leaving the mastering to Patricio Claypole at El Attic Studio.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
