Thundermother played a gig in The Pavilion, Belfast in November 2014. Performing tracks from their debut album “Rock ‘n’ Roll Disaster” the five girls from Sweden, Italy and Ireland certainly rocked the socks off all those in attendance. Unfortunately the band didn’t get the turnout that they deserved that night.  However, most of those present, myself included, probably subsequently pledged on the recording of the band’s second album “Road Fever”. This album was released on 4th September; although a copy had also been sent to the station by one of the promoters who works with us. Thundermother have certainly delivered the goods and “Road Fever”, in my humble opinion, surpasses the high expectations set by the first album and their vibrant live performances.

There are ten tracks on the album and they’re all great. My only complaint would be that there should be more as the album only lasts about 31 minutes!  Definitely one of those occasions when you can’t get too much of a good thing!

I’ve already played “It’s Just A Tease”, “Deal With The Devil” and “Enemy” on the Friday NI Rocks Show. It’s hard to pick favourites, but at a push I might add “FFWF”, “Roadkill”, “Thunder Machine” and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Sisterhood”.

Prior to the Belfast gig last November, Irish lead singer Clare Cunningham had been a guest on the Friday NI Rocks Show - http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/interviews/1694-ni-rocks-interview-with-clare-from-thundermother.html

The other members of Thundermother are Filippa Nassil on lead guitar, Linda Strom on bass, Tilda Stenqvist on drums and Giorgia Carteri on rhythm guitar. The latter is Italian and the others all Swedish.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
