Swedish band Black Trip released their second album, entitled “Shadowline”, through Steamhammer / SPV on 28th August. The band have no qualms about emphasising the influence of classic rock bands such as Iron Maiden, Saxon, Scorpions and Thin Lizzy on the music they create. I’m no expert, but the Thin Lizzy influence is certainly evident on a couple of tracks; and I have no problem with that what-so-ever!

Black Trip’s first album “Goin Under” was released in Scandinavia in 2013 and everywhere else during 2014. The band had been brought together quickly to record the album and play some gigs. Vocalist Joseph Tholl states that “with the writing and recording of “Shadowline” we have grown together and it really feels like we have become a band now”.

In addition to Tholl, Black Trip consists of Peter Stjarnvind and Sebastian Ramstedt on guitars, Johan Bergeback on bass and Jonas Wikstrand on drums. You can find out more at http://www.blacktrip.se/ .

I’ve already played “The Storm” on the Friday NI Rocks Show. Other favourites from the 11 tracks on the album are “Die With Me”, “Danger”, “Shadowline” and “Subvisual Sleep”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
