NI Rocks Recommends – Rage of Angels : “Dreamworld”

I always have a quick read of the press pack before checking out any tracks or albums sent to us at Rock Radio NI. It helps to get a feel for what you’re going to be listening too and helps formulate first opinions!! So needless to say when I read that Danny Vaughn was involved in a couple of tracks from the “Dreamworld” album by Rage of Angels I was definitely checking it out!! As I read on I realised there were a few names I recognised and lots of reasons to check out the album!

Rage of Angels is the brainchild of Ged Rylands who played with Ten back in the 90s. More recently he was involved with Lover Under Cover (who’s album I recommended last year). Ged was also recently a part of  Tyketto on tour.

The album includes a host of guest performers. Other notables include guitarists Xander Demos and Vinny Burns (Dare / Ten etc) and vocalists Robert Hart (best known from Bad Company) and Harry Hess (Harem Scarem).

“Melodic” rock can be hit or miss in my books but this is an excellent example of the genre. It’s an album full of long anthemic tunes with the shortest (apart from an instrumental) being 5 and a half minutes and the longest almost 9 minutes. My favourite tracks include the two Danny Vaughn songs “Over and Over” and “Spinnin Wheel” as well as “Through It All” (Robert Hart) and “The Beating of Your Heart” (David Reed Watson).

“Dreamworld” is released by Escape Music on 22nd February 2013. You can find out more about Rage of Angels at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rage-Of-Angels-Escape-Music/482739221760263?sk=info

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

I'm not a reviewer but wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels both within and outside of N Ireland. That was the idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of most reviews as they’re simply one person’s opinion!! Therefore “NI Rocks Recommends” is just my personal recommendation. Let's just say that if I've went to the bother of writing this, I think it's worth taking a listen to and you’ll be hearing it played on my shows on Rock Radio NI!!
